Along the way, she’ll share the rich history of champagne (spoiler: it wasn’t created by Dom Perignon), explain what makes champagne "Champagne," and dive into the grapes, the terroir, and how to read a champagne label. She’ll also discuss perfect food pairings, champagne glassware, and why every day that ends in “day” is the perfect occasion to enjoy champagne.

Kathy Wiedemann is a certified Champagne Specialist from the CIVC and holds an Advanced Certification (Level 3) from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET). Currently a candidate in the Champagne Master program through the Wine Scholar Guild, Kathy’s passion for champagne is matched only by her love for Virginia wines. She’s served as a judge in renowned competitions like the Virginia Governor’s Cup, Monticello Cup, Shenandoah Valley Cup, and Maryland Governor’s Cup.
